A|V WORKSHOP 2017

 

The organization of workshops concerning Architectural Visualization and Computer Graphic is one of the activities of MTSYS.  Our main aim is the research of both artistic and professional high-profile figures who are able to share their know-how with the attendees and giving them the opportunity to have a complete experience in the CG field.  We strongly believe that the performance of a 3D artist relies in the balance between the artistic side and the technical knowledge of the softwares.
The aim is to be acquainted with the technique so to express the artistic ambition in the best way, always being aware that it's success comes from the contamination with other fields, such as photography, cinematography, painting, graphic and that all these influences are part of a summary communication that has its origins in the image.  The events are also the opportunity to share our own knowledge with others and are important occasions to create both personal and professional networks. Sharing becomes an instrument and a tool for the growth of this area of interest that in the last few years carved out a space in the planning process of both architecture and design disciplines.

The Rusted Pixel . Look Development Artist: a 3D storyteller

 

taught by PAUL MCMAHON

The attendees will learn how a Look Development Artist works and how is important the storytelling and the mood for the final image. Paul McMahon will discuss his approach to design, showing how he finds inspirations and creative problem’s solutions. Design, modeling, UV mapping, Compositing and Postproduction will be the focuses of the workshop.  Everything that will be teach can be applies to any software.

Photorealism and Photography in the field of Architecture and Design

 

taught by FABIO PALVELLI . ALESSANDRO MICHELAZZI

Computer Graphics and Photography: how both disciplines merge generating new creative possibilities. Computer graphics for example, can give the advantage of photography without having a subject nor the perfect light conditions. The analog photograph, at the same time, can make use of the infinite potential of CG to implement its expressive potential and to reduce time and costs of the workflow of the traditional methods. Objective of the workshop is to provide the participant with the knowledge that will enable him/her to interact with these two worlds so to produce the highest quality of images for architecture and design. Photographer Alessandro Michelazzi will cover the main theoretical aspects of photography (focal length, exposure time, aperture, ISO, the concept of depth of field), whilst Fabio Palvelli, Master Trainer V-RayforC4D, will translate these concepts in field of computer graphics. Realistic layered BRDF materials and the study of light (through implementation of V-Ray lights) will receive particular attention during the two days of workshops.

Thomas Dubois

The narrative design through 3D and postproduction

 

taught by THOMAS DUBOIS

In this workshop Thomas Dubois will show to the attendess his workflow of creating & rendering narrative design through sketchs, 3D & post-production. From South of France, Thomas Dubois is an architect living in the city of Montpellier. Since very young, he has always loved to draw and create any kind of story. Architecture is his main formation, but his passion leads him to imagine and produce a wide variety of visuals and scenarios. Pretty enthusiastic, he loves sharing ideas and working on interesting projects. His carrer leads him to work as a creative director on several projects and he continues doing so thanks to fruitful collaborations.
He was a speacker at d2 Conferences in the 2014, the most influential event in the field of Architectural Visualization to be held every year in Vienna.

Unbuilt Architecture: postproduction in the field of ArchViz

The aim of the workshop is to show attendees the power of postproduction in architectural visualization, by introducing them to image making concept, workflow, breaking down images and practicing image making tachniques on real world examples. Attendees will receive the file of the studied scenes (.psd format) and all the brushes that EDiT will produce for the workshop.
